MASK OF TRUTH, BODY OF LIES

MASK OF TRUTH, BODY OF LIES

Inspired by the 1963 British film Lord of the Flies & the 1976 Cuban film La Ultima Cena, the pineapple herein embodies the fraught qualities of TRUTH and POWER as they relate to the colonial histories of the Americas. The many-legged and winged allusions to 17th century Dutch vanitas in this photograph suggest the colloquial approximation to death and resplendent beauty, which has baptized the Atlantic region in a tragi-poetic romance with the themes of magical realism.
